A Beginning of the Year Message to all of my students:

Welcome to the 8th grade, the Green Team, and my math class! I am excited to have you as a student. This is an important year as we prepare for you to transition from the middle school to the responsibilities of the high school. It is important that you have developed the right attitude, study skills, and work ethic to help you be successful in high school and beyond. Now is the time to fine tune those skills.

What does that mean? It means taking responsibility for your learning. As all of your teachers in class encourage daily, it is important that you come to class prepared, having done your homework, studied your notes from the day before, and are prepared to challenge yourself. As we all know, everyone has commitments beyond school. Part of growing up means taking responsibility for all of your commitments and balancing them, making sure you are proud of the result. Plan ahead, don't procrastinate, and always do your best. And, of course, ask for help. I am after school most every day, and even come in early every day, ready to help. Take advantage of that time as well as everything that is on this website.

Good luck and take the effort to do your best! It will pay off.

If I can help you in any way this year, just ask.

MATH ROCKS !

LOOKING FOR MATH FUNNIES! (Or, Not-So-Funnies)

If you come across any math comics or math-related jokes, bring them in. Mr. V's classes are always looking for a laugh to start the class, and apparently the ones Mr. V has no one else seems to think are very funny!
